GRATITUDE IMMIGRATION SERVICES

SPONSORSHIP VISA

Being allowed to bring your loved ones to Canada is one of the many benefits of being a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident. In order to sponsor your relatives for permanent residence as a Family Class Immigrant, you must be the sponsor’s:

  • Spouse: If you married outside of Canada, you must present proof of marriage documents to the Canadian immigration authorities in that nation.
  • Common-law or conjugal partner: A common-law or conjugal spouse is someone with whom you have lived for at least one year.
  • Parents: Under the age of 19, the sponsor’s siblings may also be welcomed to Canada.
  • Dependent children: Any children under the age of 18 who you intend to adopt, as long as they are unmarried, are eligible to be sponsored.
  • Other Relatives: If you have close relatives – common-law partner, conjugal partner, siblings or grandparents – then you can sponsor a more distant relative (also called ‘Lonely Canadian sponsorship’).

Spouse Sponsorship

To sponsor your spouse to Canada, the applicant must be at least 18 years old and the legitimacy of the relationship must be provided. The applicant must be at least 18 years old and present proof of the relationship’s validity in order to sponsor your spouse to come to Canada. Spousal sponsorship in Canada is classified as “Family Sponsorships.” Such applications have two parts: the first is an application to become a sponsor, and the second is an application for the spouse’s permanent residence. Both applications must be submitted in one application package at the same time. The programme is trackable and must be updated if any changes occur. If the application is complete, it could take up to several months to receive final approval.

Before sponsoring a spouse to immigrate to Canada through a spousal sponsorship program, the sponsor must ensure that he or she is eligible. The following are some of the most important factors to consider:

  • To enroll in the program, the sponsor must be at least 18 years old.
  • He or she must be a citizen or permanent resident of Canada.
  • If the sponsor does not live in Canada, he or she must show proof of residence in Canada once the spouse is sponsored.
  • He or she must have proof of the relationship’s authenticity. (For example, marriage certificates, photographs, and other supporting documents.)
  • Although proof of income is not necessary for spousal sponsorship, the sponsor must demonstrate financial capacity to meet his or her spouse’s basic necessities.
  • The sponsor is not permitted to accept government support unless there are exceptional conditions, such as a social disability.
  • You (primary applicant) were sponsored by a spouse or partner (sponsor) and became a permanent residence in fewer than five years.
  • There must be no criminal convictions on your record.
  • There are no convictions for violent or sexual offences.
  • It’s unlikely that you’re in the midst of a financial crisis.
  • Must not be subject to a restraining order.
